Aspray Transport invest in new DAF's to support their continued growth in 2010

Multi-award winning Midlands-based specialist express carrier, Aspray Transport, has just taken delivery of 26 new DAF's from Greenhous Commercials in Willenhall, as it predicts a 20 per cent growth for 2010 after securing several large national contracts at the start of the year.
Aspray Transport has been long established as a market leader within the transport and logistics industry for next day nationwide distribution of locks, hardware, nuts, bolts, engineering, fasteners, plumbing, electrical, manufacturing and related industries. Running 300 vehicles on a daily basis across the country, Aspray Transport currently employs 460 people, and will be looking to recruit a further 50 staff across the board by the end of March as a result of the latest contract wins.
With an emphasis on supporting business in the region, Aspray Transport has bought DAF trucks through Greenhous since 1988 and has built a firm and trusted relationship with the company. They are also poised to place an order for a further 25 vehicles with Greenhous.
Stuart Laight, managing director of Aspray Transport, was joined by members of Greenhous Commercials’ sales team to witness the first of 26 new DAF's come off the assembly line at Leyland Trucks in Leyland near Preston.
“It’s been great to see the first DAF's come off the production line at Leyland Trucks and we look forward to rolling them out across the country. These latest contract wins are a real testament to the service Aspray Transport delivers day in, day out. As a result of these latest wins, we are delighted that in turn, they will also bolster our workforce further as well as support supplier partners we work with in the region".
Talking about his decision to work with regional based companies, Stuart commented: “Part of our ethos is to support British companies and manufacturers where we can – especially with so many businesses in the automotive industry going under in the last year or two. When we decided that we needed to extend our fleet with this latest addition, we identified Greenhous Commercials, Leyland Trucks and DAF as ideal partners. Whilst we hold a national account with DAF, we put all of our orders through Greenhous as believe it’s important to support local companies.
“We’ve worked with Greenhous for the last 22 years, and I can’t speak highly enough of them. There are many synergies between the two companies – we have a similar ethos in delivering value to customers and both pride ourselves on having a great team. Greenhous can deliver the total package which gives me peace of mind – from repair and maintenance, parts, servicing and a dealership network.
“Interestingly, one of our clients Anixter, supply fasteners to Leyland Trucks and we deliver them on their behalf using a CAM-BAN system on a daily basis so it’s nice to see the supply chain turn full cog.”

Stuart added: “The next two years are set to be particularly busy – in addition to 20% growth in 2010 and taking on new recruits, we are predicting that the company will double in size within the next two years. Later this year, we will be giving the company a new look and I feel positive that we are now coming out of the recession with a new lease of life.”
